Stanford Wins 2009 NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Title

Stanford handily put away the competition to win their fourth NCAA Men's Gymnastics title. The Cardinal closed the deal with the evening's top scores on rings. Tim Gentry and Nick Noone led the way with scores of 15.45, followed by Kyle Oi's 15.35 and Sho Nakamori's 15.05. Michigan and Oklahoma mounted late charges on floor and vault but fell short. The Super Six for the 2009 NCAA Championships advanced as predicted. The evening competition was exciting, with Oklahoma prevailing over Illinois and Ohio State. The most amazing performance of the night was by Illinois' Daniel Ribeiro, who scored an outstanding 16.00 on pommel horse. That's easily the NCAA's top pommel score of the season. ESPN2/ESPNU Will Broadcast 2009 NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Championships

Region I has been a virtual battle zone for most of the 2009 club season. Many of the region's top Level 10s have been banged up with injuries. Illini and Wolverines Tie for Big 10 Championship

Illinois mounted a furious comeback to tie Michigan for the Big 10 Championship. The Illini were 2.5 points behind going into their final rotation (rings). It took career high or season high performances from Tyler Mizoguchi, Nick Stango and Tyler Williamson to get the job done. Michigan's Thomas Kelly (89.35) edged out teammate Chris Cameron (89.10) for the All-Around title. Illinois and Michigan captured a total of five event titles. ASU Men Win 11th Gymnastics National Title

Arizona State won their 11th team title last weekend at the 2009 USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships. The Sun Devils won the collegiate (club) title, while William & Mary nailed down their 13th national title in the Varsity division (funded programs).
