U.S. Men’s Gymnastics Team Selected for 2009 World Championships

The 2009 Men’s World Team selections are now in the books. Leading the way, of course, is newly crowned U.S. All-Around Champion Jonathan Horton. Despite starting vet school next week, David Sender was selected to the team. Sasha Artemev successfully petitioned on to the team, but will have to prove he is adequately competitive by September. Danell Leyva proved at VISAs that he is now ready for prime time, and earned a well-deserved trip to London. Rounding out the remaining two spots on the team were Tim McNeill and Steven Legendre. Chosen as alternates were Jake Dalton, Wes Haagensen and Daniel Ribeiro.
It’s going to be interesting to see how things play out between now and next month. Will Sender keep his spot on the team, or will he be replaced by one of the alternates? The same applies to Artemev.
