Ron Brandt Discusses Scholarships for Men’s Gymnastics

Gymnastike posted an interesting interview with Ron Brandt, the National Team Coordinator for USAG.  Brandt discussed the growing amount of scholarship opportunities for men who wish to continue in the sport at the collegiate level.  USAG has a scholarship fund which doles out about $30,000 to athletes every year.  Fifty percent of the money collected each year is awarded each year, with the remaining half staying in the fund.  The fund now has over $700,000, with the goal to become a multi-million dollar endowment.

One dollar for each gymnast competing in every USAG-sanctioned meet across the country goes into the scholarship program.  USAG is encouraging all interested gymnasts to apply for this money. It doesn’t matter if the athlete competes for a Division I program or for one of the many colleges that have a club program.
