Ohio State’s Bilozertchev Leaves Men’s Gymnastics Team

Posted on 15 January 2009 by admin

Ohio State freshman, Alexy Bilozertchev, has left the men’s gymnastics team for unspecified reasons. The announcement was made by Head Coach Miles Avery. Supposedly he will remain on scholarship to pursue his academic goals.

What’s up with this? Bilozertchev, the son of former World Champion and Olympic gold medalist Dmitri Bilozertchev, was a prized recruit for the Buckeyes. This has to put a damper on the mood in Columbus. The Bucks are the consensus pre-season pick to win the Big 10 championship.

We can’t wait to find out what happened.

*** UPDATED ***

International Gymnast posted an article stating that Bilozertchev "remains focused on upcoming national and international opportunities," which includes next month’s Winter Cup.  Bilozertchev mentioned some "unresolved issues" at Ohio State, but didn’t elaborate.  He continues to train under his father with the OSU Boys Club Team, and he will compete at Winter Cup in a separate session than the Ohio State men’s team.

well ,I think there is something going on at OSU for this boy to leave.I think he only gets to finish school until the end of the quarter…seems pretty fishy a boy with such a backround and love for the sport.I still say it has to do with a OSU scandel

Not sure about a scandal, but at least he will continue to train for future meets this season. It’s probably safe to assume that he will never end up transferring. Whatever happened will likely remain under wraps for a while.
