New Scoring System for Men’s Compulsory Gymnastics
Posted on 29 December 2008 by admin
The 2008 club season ushered in the new scoring system, which consists of an “A” panel and a “B” panel. The “A” panel meaures the requirements, difficulty and connections of a routine, and the “B” panel measures execution. The new system affected only the optional clubbers (Levels 8-10), while the compulsory clubbers (Levels 4-7) still enjoyed the old “10″ system.
The compulsory men will finally get a taste of the new system in the 2009 season. The first year is always the toughest to compare one’s performance to those in previous years. 2009 will establish a new baseline for scoring. Things will be a lot easier for the optional guys since they broke in the new system last year, but 2009 will foment some initial confusion for the compulsory guys without a baseline for comparison. Oh well, by the end of the season, they’ll be used to it, and at least a baseline will be established.
It will be nice to have everybody on the same page, although many will certainly miss the opportunity to score that 9.9 or the coveted perfect “10!”
