Meet NCAA Men’s Gymnastics’ Top-Ranked Freshmen

Posted on 05 April 2017 by admin

With post-season competition about to get under way, it’s time to see how this season’s freshman class stacked up in the regular season.  Penn State’s Sam Zakutney and Favian Valdez both cracked the top 20 in two categories, thus establishing the largest footprints among all the freshmen.  Oklahoma’s Tanner Justus was the lone top-ranked freshman, leading the VT category by the slimmest of margins over a talented group.  Illinois’ Sebastian Quiana and Oklahoma’s Matt Wenske also cracked the top 5.  Meanwhile, Penn State led all teams, having three freshmen with top 20 rankings.  Overall, it has been a great showing by the newbie class.
