Jr. Elite Level 8 National Champ Joshua Karnes Performs on Little Big Shots

Posted on 08 June 2017 by admin

The other night, a male gymnast was featured in a prime-time television broadcast for the first time since the 2016 Olympics.  Joshua Karnes (Lakettes-Erie, PA) appeared on NBC’s Little Big Shots, a series that showcases the unique talents of kids from all over the world.  Karnes performed some skills on SR, PB and PH, drawing big cheers from the live audience.  No stranger to gymnastics fans, Karnes won back-to-back Jr. Elite Level 8 AA titles at JO Nationals in 2016 and last month.

Granted, the show (filmed last summer) was up against game 3 of the NBA finals, but it would have been great to have received a heads-up.  Karnes’ prime-time appearance on a popular family show was a great way to promote men’s gymnastics.  Little Big Shots may not get the higher ratings of a show like Dancing With the Stars, but it was still free publicity and a wasted promotional opportunity.

In case you missed it, you can see Joshua’s performance on YouTube…
