Gymnastike Interview With Sam Mikulak

Gymnastike published a great interview with Sam Mikulak. Anne Phillips, seemingly in the right place at the right time the past several months, tracked down Sam at SCATS in Huntington Beach, CA.
A member of the Junior National Team, Mikulak is a Level 10 (14-15) and trains under Coach Grigor Chalikyan. He won the Level 9 J.O. Nationals All-Around Championship in 2007, and last season, he finished 4th in the All-Around at JOs and captured 2nd at VISAs.
For the second season in a row, Mikulak has worked through an injury. Last season, it was a wrist surgery that prevented him from competing until regionals. This season, he has been recovering from a broken ankle that prevented him from competing until the State Championships, where he competed in three events (pommel, rings and parallel bars) and won two of them. He’s definitely on his way back.
