Where is the Media Respect for Men’s Gymnastics?

Where is the Media Respect for Men’s Gymnastics?

We don't know who this person is, but he (she) brings up some good points. The blog Brusqueness commented on American male figure skater Evan Lysacek's recent accomplishment in winning the World Championship, the first for the U.S. in 13 years. The blogger continued, "Don't expect him to appear on a box of Wheaties anytime soon." Good point. He (she) goes on to say that "men's figure skating (like men's gymnastics) lacks a broad appeal to the general public." The blogger goes on to point out the many examples of [...more]

Who Swings a Big Horse?

Who Swings a Big Horse?

We would need a slapping if we didn't link to a great post by retired Michigan gymnast, Ward Black. It's all about the relative demise of U.S. excellence on pommel horse. Ward nailed it. He was very harsh on our guys, but he said what needed saying. He was not without some praise, though, especially that reserved for [...more]

StickItMedia Exclusive: Shelby Cobra of KSM

StickItMedia Exclusive Interview As a reward for their inspired bronze-medal finish at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, members of the U.S. Men's Olympic Gymnastics Team were quickly signed on to perform in the Gymnastics Superstars Tour, which ended this past November. Prior to the Games, Paul and Morgan Hamm had already signed on for the tour. It was a lot of fun for the guys, since they were paid to do their favorite activity while not having to worry about judges. Even better, no uniforms, as they often performed in jeans. Joining them on the tour was a new all-girls band. These young ladies spent two months together with the Olympic team on the whirlwind nation-wide tour. We're talking about KSM. If you haven't heard KSM yet, you should. This is not your little sister's [...more]

Confident Jonathan Horton Leads By Example

Confident Jonathan Horton Leads By Example

Thanks to Gymnast.com for posting a great USA Today interview with Jonathan Horton . Horton lamented his 13.675 pommel horse score that prevented him from winning an all-around medal in Beijing. "I was (four-tenths) away from a silver at this Olympics with a 13.6 on pommel horse. That's ridiculous," Horton said, shaking his head in disgust. "Who gets a 13.6 at the Olympic Games? This guy." That's classic Horton. Afterall, this is the same guy who [...more]

Obama Needs to Weigh In on Title IX

Saving Sports is wondering how President-Elect Barack Obama's administration will deal with Title IX. Good question. After all, MoveOn.org raised $80 million for Obama and they are [...more]
