Canada’s Big Impact on NCAA Men’s Gymnastics

Posted on 22 February 2017 by admin

Canadian gymnasts are no strangers to NCAA Men’s Gymnastics.  Casey Sandy (Montreal, PQ) was the 2008 NCAA All-Around Champion and earned that season’s Nissen-Emery Award.  This season, eight Canadian gymnasts are listed on NCAA team rosters.  The top-ranked Canadian all-arounder is Penn State freshman Sam Zakutney, who is also ranked 4th on PB.  Cal’s Aaron Mah is right behind him, ranked 10th AA and is 3rd on FX.  Minnesota has a pair of gymnasts from up north who are also ranked pretty high.  Justin Karstadt is nationally ranked on PH (13th), SR (12th) and VT (13th).  He has also scored 82.00 in the AA.  Teammate Joel Gagnon is ranked 23rd on FX.  Nebraska has freshman Jake Bonnay, ranked 14th on FX.

These rankings are based on a 3-score average as of February 20.  No doubt there will be movement in the rankings between now and season’s end.
