Big Surprises in Store for U.S. Men’s Gymnastics?

The last few days were incredible. Paul Hamm gracefully bows out… Raj Bhavsar hits the jackpot… Raj is going to Beijing!
Team USA is now in China. Is something special about to happen? They are the underdogs. They will be competing for medals that most believe are unattainable. The Chinese are everybody’s favorites. After all, they will be competing on home turf.
For some reason, it’s tradition in America to believe it’s possible that Team USA could pull off the big upset. This team has much international experience. What may be more important is that this team just might now have serious motivation to prove to the world that the low perceived expectations are wrong and they can indeed medal in Beijing.
Certainly in the individual events, we have a few men who could very well bring home some medals. Justin Spring could blow them all away on high bar if he has a great day, and he is no slouch on vault. Kevin Tan is our Lord of the Rings. Morgan Hamm could medal on floor.
Jonathan Horton is arguably the best all-arounder on our team, and who knows? He has a great shot at bringing home something shiny. As we said before, Horton just might be the key to the team’s success.
