2009 U.S. Men’s Gymnastics Senior National Team is Set

All six members of the 2008 Men’s Olympic Gymnastics Team successfully petitioned on to the 2009 U.S. Men’s Senior National Team.  Olympians Raj Bhavsar, Jonathan Horton, Joey Hagerty, Kevin Tan, Justin Spring and Sasha Artemev were joined by Tim McNeill and Kyle Bunthuwong, who were picked by the Men’s Program Committee and the Men’s National Team Coordinator.  The remaining seven team members were chosen based on their performance at the 2009 Winter Cup.

McNeill punched his ticket by scoring huge points on pommel horse and parallel bars.  Fellow Cal Golden Bear, Bunthuwong, scored significant points on floor, pommel horse, parallel bars and all-around to earn his selection.

These are the 15 gymnasts who will represent the Senior National Team until the 2009 VISA Championships in August:

  • Chris Brooks – Oklahoma
  • Steven Legendre – Oklahoma
  • Jonathan Horton – Oklahoma (graduate)
  • Kyle Bunthuwong – Cal
  • Tim McNeill – Cal (graduate)
  • Sho Nakamori – Stanford
  • David Sender – Stanford (graduate)
  • Joey Hagerty – USOTC
  • Kevin Tan – Penn State (graduate)
  • Guillermo Alvarez – Minnesota (graduate)
  • Chris Cameron – Michigan
  • Raj Bhavsar – Ohio State (graduate)
  • Sasha Artemev – 5280 Gymnastics (Denver,CO)
  • Danell Leyva – Universal Gymnastics (Miami, FL)
  • Justin Spring – Illinois (graduate)
